Beautiful hike!! For a long time we had been looking for a passage to cross Mount La Piastra but by MTB until today we could not (at least us) find a path, a way that joined two BEAUTIFUL roads, in the true sense of the word!!
From the state road 12 at the height of the Tistino Dam towards the “mountain” begins a dirt road called della Mora which passes through the beautiful Uffiziatura farm. (or as it is locally called “the Plains”) arrived on the road of the “Towers” we went on the left to the parking lot in front of the towers of Popiglio. The dirt road bends to the right and climbs for 3 km to the barrier of the State Property in the locality of Pian di Rasoi. Maintain after passing the barrier the right and we begin to walk along a beautiful road built in the 70s by the Forestry Corps to join the reserve of Pian Di Novello (but… never finished!) From here begins a breathtaking view admiring the Apennine chain, from the Libro Aperto to the mountain of San Vito… After 4 km the road unfortunately ends !. At this point you have to literally put the bike on your shoulder and climb up a path on the left for about 200 meters. Then we will see a wind turbine blade down on the right and in front of us a fairly defined and very intuitive path opens up. Descend keeping to the right until you find another barrier of the State Property.
(N.B. If we follow the road on the right we arrive on the road of the Towers ,,,) While we climb on the left and after a few hundred meters we arrive on the road of the ring of Pian Di Novello. At home!
