A physical lap with many pushing sections today made particularly challenging by the great heat that has been afflicting us for too long now.

We start from the Queens, just below Abetone, and immediately reach Lake Nero, the first of the 6 that we will visit today. We pedal without any particular difficulty to the Shepherds’ Hut where we get fresh water. From here on to the refuge on the lake, there are very few stretches where it is possible to pedal both for the slopes and for the very loose surface. After a coffee and a piece of cake, we resume our journey with our shoulders to reach the ridge at the foot of the Denti della Vecchia. Finally we get back in the saddle and very quickly reach Lake Piatto.

We continue following the CAI 519, passing through Passo Annibale and arriving at Foce a Giovo. From here begins the most strenuous stretch to visit the third and fourth lakes, Torbido and Turchino.
In fact, most of the path is not cycleable, forcing us to push or load the bike on our shoulders. We continue to follow the 519, always alternating between pedalable sections, even challenging ones, and push sections until we reach Lago Santo. Before arriving at the latter, we make a short detour to Lake Baccio. After visiting the Holy Lake, we descend to the parking lot via a short path and continue on the asphalt until we take the CAI 531 which flows into the road to Rotari. After passing the small village, we arrive at the Flank where a dirt road branches off to the right and recovers the Via del Duca that will lead us to Casa Coppi. We continue to climb up to the Val di Luce car parks where we continue the route following the Sentiero del Tedesco.

At the end of it, instead of staying at high altitude, we try a path not marked on the maps on a steep slope which, however, makes us lose more elevation gain than we thought. Once we reach the Val di Luce state road below Faidello, we decide to return to the car on asphalt.
