With its 1937 meters, Mount Libro Aperto can be reached from the Abetone pass in a few hours on foot. This mountain takes its name from its particular shape that resembles an open book. The peak is located on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna from which it is possible to admire the Po Valley to the north as far as the Alps and to the south the Apennine ridge of the Abetone area. Itinerary description: We will start from the CAI 00 path that begins just above the Abetone pass and which acts as an Apennine watershed following it up to the mouth of the Verginetta, we will pass by Lapo’s house and we walk along CAI path 495 which will take us to the valley below the peak that we reach to admire the sunset and make a stop. We descend from the ridge that passes over Mount Rotondo to return to the Abetone pass from the former cross-country trail. The guide reserves the right to modify the itinerary, in the event that it is assessed that there are not ideal conditions for its realization and the safety of the participants.
