With its 1937 meters, Monte Libro Aperto is a destination that can be reached from the Abetone pass in a few hours of walking.
This mountain owes its name to its particular shape, which resembles an open book.
The summit is located on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, offering a view to the north that extends to the Po Valley and the Alps, and to the south a panoramic view of the Apennine ridge of the Abetone area.

Itinerary description: We will start from the CAI 00 path, which begins just above the Abetone pass and acts as an Apennine watershed, following it to the mouth of the Verginetta.
We will pass by the Casetta di Lapo refuge and take the CAI 495 path, which will lead us to the valley below the summit.
After admiring the wonderful view from the top, we will make a stop.
We will then descend along the ridge that passes over Monte Rotondo, returning to the Casetta di Lapo refuge, where a delicious lunch awaits us with two menus to choose from.
After lunch, we’ll end the hike with a simple digestive walk in the woods.
